In a letter addressed to colleagues in the Democratic Party, Pelosi stated that she asked Jerrold Nadler, chairman of the Legal Committee, to prepare a resolution next week on the appointment of representatives to the impeachment process and the transfer of impeachment articles to the Senate. Nominations for "impeachment managers" who will represent the lower house during impeachment in the Senate must be approved by a general vote in the House of Representatives.

“I will consult with you on how we should proceed next on Tuesday (January 14) at the House Democratic Caucus meeting,” the letter said.

Despite the fact that the articles of impeachment were approved by the lower house of Congress three weeks ago, Pelosi has not yet submitted them to the Senate, which was the reason for the postponement of the hearings that will determine the future fate of President Trump.

Mitch McConnell, the head of the Republicans in the Senate, wants to expedite the process without calling new witnesses, but Pelosi is opposed to a hasty attempt by the Republicans to justify the president and dismiss impeachment.

McConnell supported the resolution of Republican Senator Josh Hawley, who proposed rejecting articles of impeachment automatically if the House of Representatives did not submit them to the Senate within 25 days.
