How to receive a Russian pension in America, and why you should not save this money in Sberbank accounts

Some countries pay pensions to their citizens even if they live abroad. Russia is one of them. For pensioners, this is a very important and pressing issue, because so many years have been allocated for the benefit of their former homeland, and many people want to receive this money.

Once a year, visit me at office familiar faces come with a request to issue a certificate of being alive and say goodbye with the words: “God willing, we’ll see you in a year.”

Every year I walk along the corridors of hospitals and nursing homes, visiting the homes of people who do not have the opportunity to come to me, with only one goal - to attest to the fact that they are alive, which will allow them to receive a pension from their homeland for another year.

And I also receive letters from all over America on the subject of the same certificates of being alive from people who cannot come to my office, and whose homes I also cannot come to. These people live in different parts of the United States - in Arizona, California, Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands. Their main concern is how to deliver a certificate of being alive to Russia in order to receive a pension from there for another year.

By the way, pensions in Russia are not that small, and a significant amount accrues over the course of a year. And in two years, in three to five years, millions accrue. Millions of rubles that are collecting dust in Sberbank accounts, and which many pensioners are in no hurry to receive.

Why am I writing all this? Hundreds, thousands of cases pass in front of me when you, my dear clients (former, current or potential), put money in a box. And not everyone thinks about what will happen to their money after their death, what expenses will their relatives and loved ones incur in order to gain access to this money; and what share of this money will be eaten by inflation. Just think about it.
