In Nizhneangarsk (Russia), the An-24 passenger plane, when making an emergency landing, left the runway and crashed into the building. The collision led to a fire on the liner.

As a result of the incident, two pilots were killed, dozens of passengers were injured, writes “Today".

“The head of Buryatia is keeping the situation with the plane accident at Nizhneangarsk airport under control. A passenger plane made an emergency landing there. As a result, two pilots were killed. The passengers are alive. 42 adults and one child were rescued,” said Alexey Fishev, press secretary of the administration of the Republic of Buryatia.

According to him, the AN-24 aircraft of Angara Airlines took off from Ulan-Ude to Nizhneangarsk on the morning of June 27, but when approaching Nizhneangarsk, the pilot informed the dispatcher about the failure of one of the engines. During landing, the plane went 100 meters off the runway and collided with a wastewater treatment plant building. After the collision, the plane burst into flames.

“Currently, 3 crews of the state fire service and 2 of the volunteer fire brigade are working at the scene of the incident. The head of the republic instructed to provide all necessary assistance to all victims,” the press secretary added.

During an emergency landing, 44 people were rescued, about 20 of them suffered. According to Investigative Committee of Russia, in the hospital after the incident are 14 people “with injuries of varying severity.”

The Office opened a criminal case to investigate the tragedy. The investigation began “on the grounds of a crime under h. 3 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence) ”.
