According to the manufacturer, in March of this year, 138 SSJ-100 aircraft were in operation, of which 33 were with foreign airlines. The largest operator of the SSJ-100 is Aeroflot, which had 50 aircraft of this model in its fleet before the disaster.

The plane that crashed at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport on the evening of May 5, landed in Saransk that same morning, there were no problems, RIA Novosti was told at the airport of the capital of Mordovia.

Aeroflot said that the cause of the fire on the SSJ 100 flight SU 1492 was an engine fire after the aircraft landed at Sheremetyevo. The plane was forced to return to its destination airport “for a technical reason,” which is not disclosed.

This is the first disaster for Aeroflot with human casualties after 2008, when Boeing 737 crashed in Perm.

"Kommersant", citing a source in the aviation industry, reports that previously the burned plane had only one serious technical accident. In January, 2018 did not release flaps during a descent, but the aircraft then landed safely.
