Unknowns stormed Trump's residence in Florida: they opened fire on them

Two people were arrested after law enforcement opened fire near the estate of President Donald Trump in Mar-a-Lago - on January 31, unknown assailants tried to break into the territory in an SUV, writes USA Today.

The SUV tried to storm two safety posts near Trump's house in Palm Beach. Law enforcement agencies fired on a car, a Palm Beach County sheriff’s office said. It is not specified which agency the security worked for.

The Florida Highway Patrol and PBSO Sheriff’s office helicopter chased the SUV and delayed it after the chase. Authorities say the investigation will be conducted in Florida.

The incident occurred a few hours before Trump's arrival at his mansion and club in Palm Beach.

Palm Beach police blocked traffic at the Mar-a-Lago checkpoint on South County Road.

Later that day it became known that the detainees were women. According to Fox News referring to the US Secret Service, the patrol tried to stop their car, but instead of pressing the brake, a woman driving a black SUV rushed to Trump's property and tried to ram two checkpoints near the residence.

According to Sheriff Rick Bradshaw, the suspect was identified as Hannah Remhild and had a Connecticut driving license.

After 30-year-old Remhild broke away from the patrol car on the Florida Highway, she picked up another passenger and drove with her to the checkpoints. It is also reported that despite the shooting, no one was injured. Remhild tried to pass back and return to her hotel, but the authorities were able to catch up with her and arrest her.

Bradshaw said the attack was not related to terrorism, and the connection of the incident with Mar-a-Lago was likely just a coincidence.

“This is not an act of terrorism,” he said during a news conference Friday. “I'm not sure she knew where she was going.” There was no way she could get into the main entrance.”

Bradshaw said Remhild was allegedly accused of assaulting an officer and two deputy sheriffs, in addition to traffic violations.

Special Agent George Piro, who is in charge of the FBI office in Miami, said the bureau will work with local law enforcement agencies to fully investigate the matter, and expects to add charges of assaulting a federal officer to Remhild’s growing list of alleged crimes.

“We are still at an early stage in the process, so we will not speculate as to the motives of the suspect,” Piro said. “At the conclusion of our investigation, we may have additional federal charges.”

Around noon, approximately 10 law enforcement officers were seen in the Mar-a-Lago area. At least three police officers were wearing "homicide" vests at the scene.

Trump is expected to arrive in Palm Beach County on the evening of January 31, his 29th visit since his inauguration in 2017.
