In Denmark, minks killed by coronavirus 'rise' from the ground
In Denmark, minks infected with a mutated strain of COVID-19 suddenly “resurrected” from the ground, causing panic in the country. People are calling on the authorities to cremate the buried carcasses. Writes about this USA Today.

While the sight itself is certainly frightening for residents of Western Jutland (a region of the country grappling with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in minks), there is a scientific explanation for the "emergence" of dead animals from their graves.
According to The Guardian, Danish police spokesman Thomas Christensen told state television that gases were formed in the animals' bodies as they decomposed underground.
“This is how the mink is pushed out of the ground to the surface,” Christensen said of the nightmarish sight.

The country plans to kill all 15 (according to some sources, 17) million animals that produce 40% of the world's mink fur.
Because of the hasty burial, the animals were placed in shallow graves—just over three feet (about a meter) deep. Now officials plan to bury the minks in graves almost twice as deep.
According to The Guardian, the territory will be constantly monitored until a fence is installed there.
But for some local officials, this may not be enough.

People are also concerned about the proximity of graves to rivers and other water sources, which could lead to contamination of water supplies in the region. According to the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, at least two mayors have proposed cremating all mink bodies to avoid further consequences.
