Trump has introduced a state of emergency in the US

US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of a state of emergency in the country, after he had previously agreed to sign a package of government spending that does not include the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico.

Announcing the introduction of a state of emergency, Trump intends to circumvent the decision of Congress and to direct funds for the construction of the wall, which have already been allocated for other purposes.

White House officials said the declaration would allow Trump to redirect the 3,6 billion dollars allocated from the budget to military construction projects to build the border wall, writes New York Times. Trump also uses presidential budgetary freedom to attract 2,5 a billion dollars from anti-drug programs and 600 millions from the Treasury confiscation fund.

Combined with 1,375 billions of dollars that Congress has already allocated to the wall on Thursday night, in total Trump will have about 8 billion dollars to speed up the construction of new, repair or replace existing fences along the border this year, which is significantly more than 5,7 billions of dollars, in which he refused the Congress.

At the same time, having signed the budget, which was agreed upon by the Congress, he avoided a repeated shatdaun. Previous government shutdown cost the US budget about $ 6 billion.

The draft budget, which Trump intends to sign, involves only the construction of a steel barrage with a length of 88,5 km.

Both Democrats and Republicans immediately criticized this decision. Several candidates from the Democratic Party immediately proposed a bill that would block the president’s decision to redirect budget funds to the border wall.

The fact that the American leader plans to introduce a state of emergency, it became known 14 February. A spokeswoman for the White House, Sarah Sanders, yesterday tweeted:

“President Trump will sign the state funding bill, and, as he stated earlier, he will also take other executive measures, including a state of emergency in the country, to ensure that we stop the threat to national security and prevent a humanitarian crisis on the border,” Sanders said.

Compromise on public funding previously was agreed between Republicans and Democrats, and he did not anticipate the allocation of money for the construction of the border wall. Trump stated that he “Extremely dissatisfied” with a compromisebut he stressed that he did not want to allow another shatdaun.

Financing the construction of the wall on the border with Mexico was the main disagreement between Republicans and Democrats, which is why in December 2018 in the United States there was a shatdown (government suspension). Trump requires the allocation of billions of dollars for this 5,7 project, but Democrats categorically refuse to finance the construction of the border fence.
