The United States expanded sanctions against Russia: what is the essence of the new restrictions

The US Department of Commerce on Friday, July 9, added 34 companies from Russia, China, Iran and other countries to the sanctions list, the activities of which, according to the US government, are contrary to the national interests of the United States. The restrictions also affected the management and founders of one of the Russian enterprises. Writes about it Ukrainian Truth.

The list includes, among others, the Russian companies for the supply of electronic components "Teson", "Trade Component" and the "Radiant" group. Also, sanctions were imposed on the general director of "Teson" Dmitry Kravchenko and co-founders of this company, Margarita Kuznetsova and Andrey Kuznetsov.

According to the document, they ended up under US sanctions through the purchase of American electronic components for military purposes, the final recipient of which is the Kazan Helicopter Plant. This plant was included in the US sanctions list back in December 2020.

US sanctions also targeted 14 Chinese companies for involvement in the persecution of Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in China's Xinjiang province.

This is not the first time that Chinese companies involved in human rights abuses have faced US sanctions. According to the head of the US Department of Commerce Gina Raimondo, the department will continue to take decisive and tough measures against enterprises whose activities contribute to human rights violations.

In addition, more than 10 firms fell under US restrictive measures for the supply of military technology to China and the export of products to Iran.

“We will continue to aggressively enforce export controls to hold governments, companies, and individuals accountable for attempting to access U.S.-origin goods to subvert countries like China, Iran, and Russia,” said Gina Raimondo.

American companies are prohibited from cooperating with enterprises listed by the government on the sanctions list. Exceptions to this rule are possible only with special permission.
