A Russian missile exploded 500 meters from Zelensky and the Greek Prime Minister, who were visiting the port in Odessa

On March 6, the Russian army launched missile strikes on Odessa while Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis were visiting the city. The rocket exploded less than 500 meters from where the politicians were, reports CNN.

“It actually happened less than 500 meters from us. It cannot be ruled out that this was aimed at the presidential delegation or a delegation of a foreign guest,” said Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Igor Zhovkva.

According to sources, this turned out to be “the closest arrival to the President of Ukraine in history,” not counting Zelensky’s trips to the military on the front line.

The Ukrainian leader showed the Greek Prime Minister the port, and when they returned to the car, they heard the sound of an air raid siren. This was followed by a missile attack on the port.

Despite Zhovkva's assumptions, CNN sources consider it unlikely that Zelensky was the target of the strike. The Russians were most likely launching missiles at their usual targets.

“Yes, there was a missile strike on Odessa, on one of the port infrastructure buildings. But this has nothing to do with this specific visit (Zelensky and Mitsotakis. - Ed.). This is a continuation of methodical terror on the part of Russia,” said a representative of the joint press center of the South of Ukraine.

None of the politicians were injured.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement on March 6 that they “successfully struck a hangar in the port of Odessa where unmanned boats of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were being trained.”

At least five people were killed in a Russian strike on Odessa, a Ukrainian Navy spokesman said.
