Known for his luxurious life Russian hacker prepares for trial in the US

The trial of Yevgeny Nikulin, a citizen of Russia, who in the US is accused of hacker attacks that led to one of the largest data leaks in history, will begin on June 12 in San Francisco court, writes Radio Liberty.

The decision was taken by Judge William Elsup. He also, assessing the data of the psychiatric examination, decided that the mental state of the Russian allows him to take part in the process.

Nikulin was arrested in the Czech capital Prague in October 2016 of the year at the request of the United States and was extradited to this country in March last year. The Czech authorities granted the request for his extradition to the United States, not to Russia.

Nikulin's name has not yet been directly linked to the scandal surrounding the actions of alleged Russian hackers who hacked the email of the National Committee of the Democratic Party. Then Hillary Clinton's campaign headquarters accused the Kremlin of helping Donald Trump through hacker attacks. After the latter’s victory in the presidential election, “Russian hackers” became one of the important components in the story of accusations against Trump’s entourage of illegal ties with Russia.

Only one circumstance can indirectly indicate any connection between Nikulin and “political hacking”. Namely, being put on the international wanted list, he was arrested in Prague two days before the outgoing administration of Barack Obama officially accused Russia of involvement in hacking the servers of the Democratic Party.

At home, 30-year-old Yevgeny Nikulin was known as a big bon vivant and the owner of several very expensive cars with which he enjoyed taking pictures.

In an interview with Avtorambler in the fall of 2015, a certain 27-year-old Evgeny spoke about his experience in owning a Lamborghini. The article describes him as a "very busy young man" and a successful entrepreneur, whose business interests include his own construction company, a car service center and a luxury watch business. Eugene told the publication that he uses the Lamborghini for "entertainment and outings." On weekdays, he drives other cars.
