'Hysteria and Russophobia': Russia gave an official response to the investigation of Muller

The 120-page document entitled “Rashageyt-Hysteria: The Case of Serious Russophobia” lists the “baseless accusations against the US by the American media”.

The Russian Embassy in the United States published a report entitled “Rashageyt-Hysteria: The Case of Serious Russophobia”. The document 120 pages, and it is the official response to the investigation of the special prosecutor Robert Muller about the alleged Russian interference in the US elections, writes Tjournal.

“The investigation found no real evidence to support claims of Moscow cyber attacks or attempts to undermine democracy. All this time, Russia pointed out the fabricated nature of these insinuations,” from the report of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The first chapter of Hysteria begins with quotes from US Senator J. William Fulbright and Russian President Vladimir Putin (here you will find full report in pdf).

“This is an attempt to place the blame at someone else’s door. This is not our problem. The problem is US politics... The other team lost. They don't want to admit they made a mistake. As noted by Present TenseThe report is divided into topics, each of which consists of two parts:

• “Examples of hysteria” with examples of baseless accusations against Russia, according to the embassy
• “Reality”, which contains statements by the Russian Foreign Ministry and publications that support the position of the Russian side.

“It has been almost three years since the first fake news stories about “Russian interference” and “collusion” appeared in the American media, which were first launched to discredit the candidacy of Donald Trump and then sabotage his performance in office, including attempts to stabilize relations between Russia and the United States,” the report says.

It is also noted that the Muller investigation did not reveal any real evidence in support of allegations of cyber attacks from Moscow and attempts to "undermine democracy."

The drafters of the report listed a number of, in their opinion, baseless accusations from American experts.

Parts of the report that begin or end with quotations of Russian political figures (Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, President Vladimir Putin, and others), writes RBC. In each part, the authors cite examples and investigate the chronology of the emergence of this or that information and, as a result, try to disprove it (present a “fact” or a true publication in the English-language media).

So, the case of "Russian intervention", diplomats believe, began under the administration of Barack Obama in the spring of 2016. Then, at that time, the post of Director of National Intelligence of the United States, James Klepper, announced the discovery of evidence that foreign spy services were trying to hack into the networks of the National Committee of the US Democratic Party. A month later, Russian hackers infiltrated the bases of the committee, the Washington Post reported, citing anonymous sources.

After nearly three years, the authors of the document say, more than 8 thousand publications appeared in the American media about alleged attacks by Russian hackers, Russia's possible interference in American elections (including “Russian trolls”), the plot of the current US President Donald Trump’s Russian special services, about Russian spies (to which Mary Butina and former Russian ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak are in Washington), as well as Russian propaganda (RT television channel).

The publication of “fake news” on these topics is attributed by Russian diplomats to an attempt to “discredit Donald Trump’s candidacy and then sabotage his plans, including efforts to stabilize Russian-American relations.”

“Congressional inquiries, 22 months of work [of the special prosecutor for the 'Russian case'] Robert Mueller, which cost taxpayers <...> more than $ 32 million, more than 2,8 thousand subpoenas, 500 witnesses questioned and the same number of search warrants, an obvious conclusion done - there was no collusion [of Trump's team with Russia], "the embassy noted, stressing that also the special prosecutor's investigation" did not show any real evidence to support the allegations of Moscow cyber attacks and attempts to "undermine democracy" in the United States.

“We understand that some political circles in Washington have invested too much in spreading conspiracy theories about Russia and Donald Trump to recognize them baseless,” added the report’s authors, noting that the Russian embassy nonetheless hoped that “the end of Muller’s saga will further dispel fog in this topic. ”

“The first step—the renunciation of the “conspiracy theory”—has been taken,” the embassy emphasized, noting that now the logical step, according to Russian diplomats, would be to reconsider the whole concept of Russian interference in the elections. “The chronology of events invariably leads to the conclusion that it was just fake news,” the embassy is confident.

Understanding this and the American side, the diplomats expressed hope, "will contribute not only to the normalization of Russian-American relations, but also to the healing of political discourse in the United States." The report ends with the words of Vladimir Putin, who claimed that “Muller will not find anything,” because Russia did not interfere in the elections in the United States.
