Those who move to another country often become patriots, however, after the fact already. Begin to "drown" for Putin, hang the Russian flag in the apartment, to flood the house with boxes with matryoshkas and without removing the pavloposadsky scarf. I have four such stories, just as many as there are friends who have left to live in foreign countries.

At the same time, note that before moving, none of them were patriotic. Yes, and I, in fact, too. No, even now I don’t declare Esenina in the streets at the top of my voice and I don’t grow birches in the house, although sometimes I really want to. But even I began to get too homesick and for something Russian.

Tasty cottage cheese, normal winter with snow, warm floors in apartments and in general, warm in rooms - all of this is not enough for me. But the most painful thing for me is that I miss a city that is completely awake.

To be able to meet with a childhood friend in any cafe on any day at two nights. But such places in Moscow is full! I miss everything that I absolutely did not appreciate when I had it. Just did not notice these moments, took it for granted.

I especially miss my family and friends. About my mother's pancakes, cheese cakes and buckwheat with mushrooms - there’s nothing even to say. Verily, our food is mushrooms, berries, and porridge. Leaving, you understand all this.

Longing so much you obsess that sometimes you just want to howl. It is desirable in the direction of Russia, so dearer. Well, either succumb to this very hysteria of the emigrant and wrap up in the Russian flag, cook borscht.

Russians and vodka

Our patriotic mania for locals looks weird. All these flags, dolls for them are exotic. They sleep and dream, as if on a real Zhiguli ride, and jump into a snowdrift after a bath under the degree. And salted cucumbers to try and see a bear with a balalaika. Do not believe it, they really see us like that. Still!

I miraculously disaccustomed to offering me vodka at dinner parties. Although the joke about me is Russian and a hundred grams is still popular with my new friends. They do not want to believe that women rarely drink hard liquor in Russia. They do not want and will not.

My unprepared and naive consciousness does not understand why I should be torn? My things are scattered around the world, I have a lot of sims, I do not have my own path for running. I have to constantly get sick because of eternal acclimatization and change time zones, breaking all the biorhythms of the exhausted organism. Then confuse the day with the night, like an avid owl. Even my smartphone is already connected to the Wi-Fi at airports in the world. Always lost in keychains and languages. You have to carry your favorite cup with you all the time. Tired, I like restless.

Shake but do not mix

But I am a victim of perfectionism and I want everything at once. The Russian enterprise comes to the rescue. You will laugh, but I try to squash cottage cheese from local milk and learn to make pickles. What I can not organize in place - please send me packages from Russia. For example, herbs for all diseases, gauze with manganese or a couple of kilos of buckwheat. What nonsense you will not begin to do far from the motherland!

It looks like I'm trying to smuggle all of Russia in one box. Immediately with all relatives and friends, please!

Yes, yes, sometimes I just go crazy, it seems. Now I'm trying to think of my favorite pink skates in baggage. Nothing can be done, I want to live at the same time both in Russia and in emigration. Get the best from both countries.

How to split without a split personality?

That's how you live between two cities, torn. Like a tug of war, remember? Only instead of the rope - the soul. Here I have a beloved husband, and in Russia my whole family and best friends. Help split without a split personality.

And the same story with four of my friends - Russian immigrants. More experienced reassure: in a year you will be overgrown with new life, friends and you begin to consider the new country as home. Like, be patient, Light, you will become accustomed. There will be a well-known path for running, and a favorite cafe, and even a couple of interesting friends. Give a small Brodsky to help. They predict a positive outcome, the main thing, they say, to endure. And I was lucky, I only try to accommodate two countries.

And someone is trying to lay the whole world in a box. People have amazing hopes though. My husband recently said that I was looking for a new apartment, after six months we move out again. The same awkward moment when you have to become a cosmopolitan. Apparently, my heart is too small to immediately contain the whole world. Well, you have to expand and become a patriot of the Earth. Forcibly.
