As John Fortier of the Center for Bipartisan Politics in Washington notes, as the election race picks up pace, Trump should take advantage of the political benefits of a healthy economy.

“At this stage, the impression is that the competition will be fierce,” the expert says. “The president still needs to tighten his ratings a bit to be competitive, but he is not so far from that, and he has some other strengths.”

Although in the short term the outcome of the impeachment trial is unfavorable for the Democrats, Lichtman believes that this could increase turnout in November.

“Democrats are angry, they are on the platoon and are ready to say: so you say, the right way is elections? We will use this tool and get rid of Donald Trump, ”he said.

Jim Kessler from the center-left organization “The Third Way” summarizes: “What we have learned so far: there is a split in the nation, the president is contributing to this, the media are divided into two camps, and it is through this prism that voters will look at the situation.”
