'Like a horror movie': a wolf attacks a New Jersey family at a campsite

A family of four from New Jersey, during what they expected to be a pleasant and relaxing trip to Canada, was attacked by a wolf at night.

According to the victims, they miraculously did not die, writes New York Post.

“It was like a horror movie,” said Elisa Rispoli of Morris County, New Jersey.

She and her husband Matt were lying in their sleeping bags, their two children were fast asleep next to them when they were suddenly attacked by a wolf.

“It’s hard to describe because I haven’t fully processed what happened yet,” Rispoli wrote in a lengthy post on Facebookadding that the incident occurred on 8 of August.

“Last night, while we were sleeping in a tent in Banff National Park, we were attacked by a wolf... Matt literally rushed forward to protect me and the boys and fought the wolf as it tore at our tent and his arms. We screamed for help for what seemed like an eternity (but I think it was somewhere between 1 and 3 minutes). I covered the children with myself, and Matt pressed the wolf to the ground and held its mouth open, holding it with his hands. The wolf began to drag Matt out of the tent while I pulled on his legs, trying to pull him back. I will never be able to objectively describe this horror,” the woman’s post says.

According to Rispoli, Matt tried to fight off the predator with his bare hands and large stones, but all was unsuccessful.

“A guardian angel from a tent nearby, who we later learned was named Russ, heard our screams, ran up to our campsite and punched the wolf, after which he finally let Matt go. They continued to continuously throw huge rocks at the wolf while we tried to run as quickly as possible to Russ's minivan, where it was safe. He continued to chase Matt,” the woman said.

According to Rispoli, the rest of the night was filled with “attempts to call emergency help, good Samaritans, waiting for treatment, lack of telephone and tears,” but Matt was eventually able to get to the hospital. He was assisted in connection with multiple stabbed and lacerated wounds and released.

“We're pretty injured, but we're okay. They evacuated the campsite and Parks Canada killed the wolf early in the morning,” Rispoli concluded.

The “guardian angel” of the Russ Fee family said that when he heard cries for help, his instinct worked. He tried to hit or push the wolf to scare him away, but the animal was too strong.

“I felt like I hit something that was way out of my weight class,” Fee said, noting that the wolf was much larger than any dog ​​he had ever seen.

The Canada Park Service said it was through DNA analysis that they were able to confirm that they killed the wolf who attacked people.

“This could have ended a lot worse and we are very grateful that we were able to gather here as a family. Matt is our absolute hero (I mean, way more than he was before) and we are forever grateful to Russ for coming to our aid and probably saving Matt's life,” Rispoli said.
