“Our goal was simple - to force the military to go where they should not be. And we easily managed to achieve this. They went on a date with a girl, of course, no girl was there,” said Linda Zurika, a representative of the NATO Center for Strategic Communications.

“This experiment showed weaknesses that we ourselves were not aware of. Social networks are very actively used for propaganda, information collection, trolling, and to achieve political and military goals. This experiment forced us to reconsider our internal security policies. Young military personnel today generally do not let go of their phones, and we give them information on how to use social networks correctly,” said Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks.

The Center for Strategic Communications experiment was also interested in other NATO countries. If it is impossible to take smartphones from the military, they need to be more carefully trained in safe behavior on the Web, they decided there.
