Ten best and worst airports in the world

Newark Liberty Airport was officially named the worst US airport, according to the new rating list AirHelp, which annually assesses airports around the world according to key indicators.

The New Jersey airport ranked lowest in the U.S., at 116 out of 132 worldwide. The organization AirHelp specializes in the rights of air carriers, seeking to obtain compensation for them for delays and cancellations, writes Fox News with reference to Bloomberg, who first reported the rating.

Overall, US airports ranked poorly on the global list. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) ranked 34th among American air travel hubs.

According to Henrik Zillmer, the executive director of AirHelp, American airports scored low points due to frequent weather related delays and poor overall service quality. Long lines for security checks also became a serious and common problem, clients often complained about this.

AirHelp rated airports for three key factors: the timely execution of a passenger transport schedule, the quality of service, and the variety of food and shopping. In addition, last year the group interviewed more than 40 000 passengers in 40 countries for their personal experiences. This is the ninth annual report of the group.
