Airbnb offers free rent to all affected by Hurricane Matthew
While Hurricane Matthew is getting closer and closer to Florida, Airbnb is hoping to help those affected by the hurricane or being evacuated.
The company on Thursday stepped up its disaster response program, which allows all interested participants to “open their doors to those who need shelter in emergency situations,” according to Online программы.
To date, the program is active in some counties in Florida, South Carolina and Georgia. More than 3 thousands of homes are available for those who need them.
Airbnb spokesman Nick Shapiro added in a statement to ABC News: “We encourage everyone who rents out their home to list the availability of rooms or homes to help the growing number of people evacuated. This is the first major hurricane to hit the area in years, and we hope Airbnb will make the evacuation process a little easier for residents and their families.”
The AirBnB disaster response program was created after Hurricane Sandy hit New York in 2012. Then Airbnb in New York opened more than 1000 free hosts for all in need.
