A dog named after a murdered Russian-speaking policeman serves the NYPD.
The dog named K-9 Tymoshenko, named after the Russian-speaking police officer Ruslan (Russell) Tymoshenko who was killed in 2007, serves in the New York police and helps to solve crimes. The success of the dog is monitored not only by the officers of the department and subscribers of the dog page in social networks, but also by the mother of the deceased 23-year-old Ruslan.
K-9 Tymoshenko helps officers, sniffing out weapons and ammunition during the investigation of crimes, says NBC New York. A police officer responsible for the dog tells us that he decided to make the dog his partner literally after the first minutes of his acquaintance.
Together, they protect the peace of New Yorkers and have been particularly active in the last few weeks, when, thanks to the work of officer Benny Collection and his four-legged partner, they managed to find several illegal firearms and more 1200 bullets.
K-9 Tymoshenko has almost 1000 followers on Twitter. He is something of a star and the real pride of the department. But the computer specialist on the seventh floor of the department is most proud of his success.
Tatyana Timoshenko monitors every achievement of the dog. Her last name is more than just a coincidence.
“I am very proud that such a dog was named after him,” says Tatyana, the mother of deceased police officer Ruslan Timoshenko.

K-9 Tymoshenko got his name in honor of police detective Ruslan Timoshenko. 9 July 2007 patrol Ruslan (Russell) Tymoshenko and Herman Yang were cold-bloodedly shot point-blank while checking a suspicious car in the Brooklyn district of Crown Heights. Yang survived, and Tymoshenko died of injuries in the hospital after 5 days. He was just 23 of the year.
The young policeman's killers were detained after 2 of the day. The court sentenced them to life imprisonment.
Ruslan's family moved to the US in 1993, when he was 9 years old. He studied well and after school entered the Polytechnic College to acquire an engineering degree. However, after some time, the young man suddenly changed his plans, entered the Police Academy and began working in the department of New York.
Ruslan Timoshenko was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. The city lost a hero, and Tatyana lost her son.
“He always wanted to be a police officer,” his mother says.
She admits that this dog helps her live day after day.

The dog trains in Brooklyn. K-9 Tymoshenko is depicted on baseball cards, and he also has a Instagram page.
As his companion Benny Colleagues says, the dog is looking for firearms, hostages and missing people. Despite the fact that K-9 Tymoshenko is popular and has awards, the dog and partner are not looking for fame. The dog is glad that she has a favorite toy. And her partner, an officer, is happy and proud that the name of the deceased Ruslan Timoshenko has not been forgotten.
"It's a good feeling to see his name live on," the officer says.
Despite the fact that her pain has not subsided, Tatyana Tymoshenko says that it is very important for her to see how the name of her son and his passion for working as a police officer continue to help living people and protect them.
“The fact that his name continues to help make this city safer makes me proud,” Tatiana admits.
