Florida residents are tried for fraud with a health care program
Five South Florida residents are being tried for fraud with the state benefits and medical assistance program for those in need.
Irma Davidyan is accused of bribing employees of the Department of Children and Families in Florida and the Social Security Administration to process applications for state benefits. Such a fraud brought a loss to the state in more than 2,7 million dollars. If she is found guilty, she faces ten years in prison and a fine of five hundred thousand dollars.
Davidian advertised in the newspapers that for two to five thousand dollars can help get state benefits, including Medicaid, and food stamps.
While working at the Florida Children's and Families Department, Gladys Roman applied on behalf of Davidyan's clients in exchange for money. Gladys could add or change the information in the application so that it is more likely to be accepted. She filled out all applications at home via the Internet or went to the public library for this.
When everything was ready, Gladys called another employee, George Lopez, and informed what applications had been submitted from Davidyan’s clients and had to be approved. If all of a sudden, applications were submitted for approval by another employee, George transferred them to a computer via a computer.
For nearly two years, Davidian paid Gladys and George about one thousand dollars a month to help approve applications from her clients.
For all the time Davidyan's revenue amounted to more than five million dollars.
Davidian had allies in the Social Security Administration. So, Maria Sanchez took about thirty cash payments totaling about fifteen thousand dollars - in exchange for processing applications from Davidian’s clients. Alejandro Lomozo also worked in the Social Security Administration and received about 9500 dollars for processing the necessary applications.
If Gladys Roman, George Lopez, Maria Sanchez, Alejandro Lomooso are found guilty, each of them will receive five years in prison and a fine of 250 thousand dollars.
Also in fraud with medical aid to the needy, eight more people are accused: Alexey Mesyatsev (Wellington); Ilya Massarsky and Olga Maksimova (both from Sunny Isles Beach); Natalia Krichevskaya from Fort Lauderdale; Lyudmila Pereverzeva from Chalandale Beach; Lyudmila Ustakova, Marina Khanueva, Sergey Berezin (all from Boca Raton).
