Vera, the sister of Nadezhda Savchenko, convicted in Russia, returned to Ukraine. This was announced on Twitter by President Poroshenko.

“The Consul General in Rostov just informed me that Vera Savchenko crossed the Ukrainian border and is already in her native land,” the president said.

Vera Savchenko confirmed on her Facebook page that she is in Ukraine, пишет "Kommersant".

“All mechanisms are being used to return Vera Savchenko home: Pavel Klimkin spoke with Lavrov, diplomats in Kyiv, Moscow and Rostov are working 24/7,” the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said in a statement.

Reportedthat the car with diplomatic license plates, in which Vera Savchenko was located, 27 of April was stopped at a Russian checkpoint at the Russian-Ukrainian border.

As lawyer Ilya Novikov said, the reason for Savchenko’s detention was that she was wanted “for insulting a Chechen judge.”

Later, Ukrainian diplomats reported that Savchenko was in the cabin of a diplomatic car along with the consul, but the officers of the checkpoint blocked the car and seized the passport of Vera.

On the morning of April 28, Novikov announced that Savchenko was at the consulate, her fate was decided at the highest diplomatic level.

Another lawyer, Mark Feigin, suggested that an attempt to detain Savchenko in Russia could have both bureaucratic and political reasons, сообщает "Today".
