A large-scale raid against illegal immigrants took place in the USA: 175 immigrants with a criminal past were detained
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported the arrest of 175 illegal immigrants with multiple DUI convictions as part of a nationwide law enforcement campaign.
The nationwide law enforcement campaign began on 20 August and ended on 30 September. During this time, law enforcement has attempted to locate and apprehend individuals with multiple cases of drunk driving, as well as additional criminal histories, including assault, child abuse, domestic violence, murder, and others.
“More than 11 people in the United States died in drunk driver crashes in 000. The operation, which targets individuals with previous convictions for drunk driving whose actions have resulted in death or serious bodily injury, is vital to public safety,” said Corey Price, ICE Deputy Executive Director of Operation Enforcement (ERO).
“We continue to detain illegal immigrants who negatively affect the security of our communities,” he said.
Last year, ICE implemented new priorities that limit the ability of ICE employees to pursue illegal immigrants who either recently crossed the border or threatened national security. The implementation of this rule coincided with a sharp decline in arrests and deportations.

In fiscal year 2021 (October 1, 202 – September 30, 2021), including the last months of President Donald Trump's administration, ICE arrested 74 illegal immigrants and deported 082 people. Of the 59 arrests between October 011 and October 74, only 082 were made after February 2020, when the new rule was implemented. In terms of deportations, only 2021 out of 47 occurred after 755 February.
In fiscal year 2020, there were 103 arrests and 603 deportations. In fiscal year 185, the agency arrested 884 illegal immigrants and deported 2019 people.
The administration said that due to limited resources, the rule allows the government to focus on the most pressing threats to the country. An ICE report released earlier this year said the agency arrested 12 illegal immigrants who committed violent crimes, almost double the 025 people arrested in fiscal 6.
