The journey from Manhattan to the town of Wilmington took five and a half hours. It is here, they say, that the main Santa Claus of the state lives. Built a Christmas village here is no coincidence.

Meteorologists have studied this area for several years: it always snows in the North-Pole in the winter. The probability of precipitation is 96%. It is said that the main attraction of the residence of Santa, the symbol of North Pole, is covered with frost, even in summer.

“This is magic! Right? This is a real Santa Claus village at the North Pole, and kids will be thrilled to see Santa and his reindeer sleigh! It’s fun and very beautiful,” said Michelle Barbour, a resident of New York state.

Santa Claus workshop appeared in New York State in 1949 year. The story is almost fabulous. She started with a little girl who learned that the local Santa does not have her own home. Then the girl asked her father to help somehow.

Local businessman Julian Reis promised his daughter to build an entire village for the main Christmas wizard and kept his word. The first photographs of North Pole are now in the museum, and next year Santa Claus's house will be 70 years old. The first attractions appeared here in the early 50s, among them the legendary railway.

The speed of the Christmas train is approximately 5 km / h, and the journey takes about seven minutes. You do not have to pay for the fare: the entrance ticket to the village includes the cost of all attractions. For adults - 25 dollars, for children - 15. On a visit to the main Santa Claus of New York is not easy to get, you must make an appointment in advance.

“This is my home, I live here! Families and children come here to see me,” said Santa Claus.

Santa starts the tour from the so-called waiting room, then shows the bedroom and the study.

“Some of the children draw and give me pictures. One child last night gave me my own candy in the form of a cane,” said Santa.

Christmas or New Year in the workshop can be celebrated even in summer: North-Pole is open, and Santa works even in July. The work schedule of the grandfather wizard is scheduled for the year ahead. The map shows the places he has already visited. And in his office has its own mail: a bag full of letters, Santa has already received on Christmas morning.

“Some children come to me and ask for a brother or sister. They don't want to be the only child in the family. I say that this request is not for me: Santa cannot do this. Leave this task for mom and dad,” said Santa Claus.

200 people per day - the stream is denser, perhaps, only at the customs officers at the airport of John F. Kennedy. Guests arrive from Canada, China, Argentina, Chile. But mostly American families from all over the country come to the wizard.

Amazingly, adults also come with desires: asking for help in finding a job or winning the lottery. Santa reacts with understanding and promises to do everything possible. But if it comes to politics and requests, for example, to change the president, then the grandfather becomes angry.

“I don't want to discuss politics and religion here, okay? We distance ourselves from these topics. My task is to make sure that children don’t even think about it! Many military families come to us, we even have a special day for this. Children of veterans also come to us. They come and introduce me to their fathers, and I support that. And it doesn’t matter which country they serve: Russia or Argentina,” he explained.

With the onset of the evening, the residence of Santa Claus finally turns into a fairy tale. John Pak has been living and working here for 15 years. Says that in the village little has changed since the 50-ies of the last century. Since that time, Santa’s house has hardly been repaired, his bakery and a separate workshop, where children make toys, are still working at the North Pole.

“You can burn marshmallow balls by the fire, and it’s also where people can warm up. After all, it’s almost always cold here! Guests love this place very much. They stand around the fire and warm themselves,” John Park, residence manager.

Heading to Santa's main friends - deer. There are only eight in the village. A deer named Wixon lost one horn this year. But as soon as another disappears, new ones will grow. Student Brian, who works on a mini-farm, has his favorite animals. For the first time a young man visited North Pole four years ago, then he became friends with a deer named Bizen.

“You can just give him your hand and he’ll come over! There are many maple leaves in the village. The deer love them, and if you have a leaf like this, it doesn't matter who you are, just hand it to the animal and the deer will come." - Brian Thomas, farm worker.

The residence of Santa Claus employs more than 50 people. Nel, for example, is responsible for the workshop, which sells hats. For 8 dollars, you can buy a Christmas sock or Santa Claus hat. You can also write your name on it: to do this, you need to fill out a special piece of paper. The letters, which then make up a particular name, Nel makes in advance. With the help of a special glue and ordinary iron, he sticks them on hats.

In the evening they give a performance in the residence: local schoolchildren tell about the history and traditions of the Christmas village. Just at this time ends the working day and at the very Santa Claus.
