Ukraine imposed sanctions on 294 companies and 848 Russian citizens
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) on additional personal sanctions against Russia.
The corresponding decree is published on website of the head of state, writes RBC.
The National Security and Defense Council earlier approved a list of restrictive measures against legal entities and individuals in Russia and some other countries, including companies, politicians, businessmen and law enforcement officers who, according to the department’s statement, “supported or contributed to aggressive actions against Ukraine”.
The sanctions imposed for three years against 294 legal entities and 848 individuals, which:
- participated in the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait;
- involved in the seizure of Ukrainian military boats;
- organized and contributed to the so-called referendum and pseudo-elections on the territory of Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics;
- violated the Ukrainian legislation, which concerns visiting the territory of the Crimean peninsula;
- distributed publishing products anti-Ukrainian content;
- illegally obtained and used museum exhibits belonging to Ukraine.
Ukrainian restrictions included, among others, Georgian citizens living in the self-proclaimed South Ossetia and Abkhazia; Greece, Spain, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil and Germany, who worked as observers at elections in the so-called Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics in November 2018. Sanctions against them include, in particular, the freezing of assets.
The station list also includes:
- head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin,
- ex-co-owners of Promsvyazbank Aleksey and Dmitry Ananyev,
- head of "Rostec" Sergey Chemezov,
- State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin,
- Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak,
- representative of the “LNR” at the negotiations in Minsk Vladislav Dane,
- First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security, Vladimir Kozhin,
- ex-head of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin,
- Assistant to the President of Russia Andrei Fursenko,
- Head of the FSB Border Department for the Crimea, Rear Admiral Sergei Stankevich.

Poroshenko announced new sanctions at the end of last year, after Russia has expanded its sanctions list for Ukrainian individuals and legal entities.
The Russian list then included more than 250 individuals (deputies, officials and businessmen) and seven companies, including defense complexes. Moscow then explained its decision with anti-Russian rhetoric on their part.
