Scientists have discovered a way to destroy coronavirus in 25 seconds: how it works

Scientists from the National Laboratory of Infectious Diseases (NIEDL) of Boston University, together with Signify, discovered a way to eradicate coronavirus infection in 25 seconds. Writes about this Lenta.Ru.

It is noted that the ultraviolet radiation of special lamps effectively inactivates SARS-CoV-2. Experts during the experiment treated the material contaminated with the virus with various doses of ultraviolet radiation from the lamps.

It turned out that at a dosage of 5 millijoules per square centimeter, the distribution of coronavirus is reduced by 99% in six seconds. When exposed to 22 millijoules per square centimeter, the virus is destroyed almost completely in 25 seconds.

Earlier in June, American and Chinese scientists concluded that people may never develop antibodies to coronavirus, as in some cases they disappear after the patient recovers. Experts came to this conclusion by studying the appearance of immunity in medical workers in Wuhan, which became the focus of the coronavirus. Doctors had direct contact with infected patients in the early stages of an outbreak. It turned out that at least a quarter of the 23 thousand studied doctors could become infected with coronavirus, however, only 4% developed antibodies.

The total number of coronavirus infected in the world by June 26 exceeded 9,7 million people. Over the entire period of the pandemic, 492 infected died, 184 million people recovered.
