Target and Walmart still sell recalled deadly hand sanitizers
The list of dangerous hand sanitizers is growing at an alarming rate every day, and some stores still have them on store shelves. Among them are Target and Walmart, two of the largest retailers in the US that still sell hand sanitizers that contain toxic methanol. Writes about it Newsweek.
The ever-growing list of hand sanitizers recalled by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) increased again over the weekend. And on the shelves of the aforementioned two retailers, they are still there.
Like many other hand sanitizers containing methanol, recalled hand sanitizers also contain toxic alcohol.
The FDA stated that “significant exposure to methanol can lead to nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, nervous system damage, or death. Although all people only use these products on their hands, young children are at risk. They may accidentally swallow these foods, and some drink sanitizers as a substitute for alcohol (ethanol). They are the ones who are most at risk of methanol poisoning. "
Some of the recently mentioned recalled products include Scent Theory Keep Clean and Keep It Clean, Born Basic, and Lux Eoi hand sanitizers... Target sells Born Basic Anti-Bac Hand Sanitizer, and Walmart sells Scent Theory. Walmart also previously sold Blumen hand sanitizer, which is also recalling.
The FDA has listed the side effects of toxic disinfectants.

Hand sanitizer is generally recommended for keeping hands clean in public areas. Many of these contain methanol, which can be toxic if ingested or through the skin.
For people who want to continually clean their hands, the FDA and CDC recommend washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds—as needed or several times a day—and practicing good hygiene. Hand sanitizers are recommended for use in public places if the product contains at least 60% ethanol.
