The state of Texas continues to investigate a high-profile crime suspected of having married Vadim Kholodenko, the spouse of a famous musician of Ukrainian origin. According to preliminary data, the woman strangled her young daughters with a pillow, and then tried to commit suicide.
31-year-old Sophia Tsygankova's arrest warrant issued on Tuesday, 22 March. A mother is accused of killing her one-year-old and five-year-old daughters.
Police said that when they arrived at the house, Tsygankova was sitting on the floor and rocking back and forth, making indistinguishable sounds. Officers saw blood on both hands and a puncture wound in the chest.
According to the document, during interrogation Tsygankova admitted that she “did not see a future for herself and her children.” She also revealed that she "didn't want to live anymore." The woman only remembers how she tried to commit suicide with a knife and drugs. Officers found empty medication containers in the home.

According to police, 31-year-old pianist and former Muscovite Sofya Tsygankova strangled her five-year-old daughter Nika and her one-year-old sister Michela, using pillows as the murder weapon. The one-year-old girl was found with a pillow over her face in her mother's bedroom, and in the second bedroom the pillow was lying next to the five-year-old girl. “Biological fluid” was found on both pillows.
Investigators later found that on the night before the tragedy, Tsygankov visited a psychiatric clinic in Fort Worth. She was prescribed a prescription for a drug to treat biopolar disorder and schizophrenia.
In the near future, Sophia Tsygankova will undergo a psychiatric examination, after which she will be sent to the Tarrant district prison.
The pianist’s family moved to the United States in 2013 after Vadim Kholodenko won the prestigious International Van Cliburn Piano Competition in Fort Worth.
In November last year, Kholodenko filed for divorce from Tsygankova, also a pianist, after five years of marriage. In the house in which the tragedy occurred, he has not lived since August.
