Popular airline offers passengers to buy a free adjacent seat for only $20
Australian airline Qantas allows customers to buy a free seat next to them. The cost of such pleasure is only $20. The edition told in more detail Travel and Leisure.
Offered as a pilot program on select domestic flights, the 'Seat Next Door' option offers Economy Class passengers the option to buy a seat next door for between A$30 and A$65 ($20,28 to $33,80). The pilot program is available on six domestic routes for six weeks.
Passengers who have booked a flight where not all seats are full will be sent an email inviting them to buy an extra seat approximately 48 hours before departure. Although they may pay for it, the extra seat will not be guaranteed until departure. If the plane fills up, customers will receive a seat refund.
