American Airlines will pay $ 1 million for a flight of flight attendants

An American Airlines flight attendant from Texas sued the airline for describing it as a physical battle with another crew member aboard that happened in June 2016 of the year, according to numerous sources.

According to Dallas Morning News, flight attendant Katie Ida Wolf in a lawsuit filed in a federal court on Friday, claims that another crew member, Laura Powers, “viciously dug her nails into my hand and slammed the door of the trolley with drinks on my hand,” quotes Business Insider.

The publication also reports that, according to Wolf, Powers "grabbed my scarf, strangled me and dragged me down the aisle in front of the passengers," the statement of claim says.

Wolf and Powers were hired by the airline as a flight attendant in June 2016, while Powers had already worked for the company since 1985.

According to Wolf, she followed the American Airlines protocol requirements, reporting the incident to the captain, other flight attendants and the flight services manager. But according to her, the company did not investigate the incident, so the woman filed a lawsuit against Powers and the airline. The lawsuit was initially filed in June in the District Court of Tarrant County, and later transferred to a federal court.

American Airlines spokesman Ross Feinstein declined to comment on specific allegations at the editor’s request, saying only that the airline “is seeking to create a working environment in which all team members feel safe and mutually respectful.”

According to USA Today, lawyers for American Airlines and Powers responded to the initial lawsuit in Tarrant County, stating that “they are not liable because the plaintiff caused or contributed to the harm for which damages are sought.”

The Morning News reports that the lawsuit by Wolf against American Airlines and Powers includes allegations of negligence, dangerous working conditions, breach of contract, assault, bodily harm, and claims damages of up to 1 million dollars.
