US Navy refuses touch control on ships, which led to the death of sailors
The US Navy returns mechanical control to its ships instead of touch. The cause was problems during training in managing new sensor systems, as well as an investigation into the collision of a destroyer and a tanker in the 2017 year. Writes about this TJournal.
The U.S. National Transportation Security Council conducted a detailed investigation into the collision of USS John S. McCain and an oil tanker. The Office found that this happened as a result of the lack of proper training and documentation on the use of the IBNS touch control system.
One member of the USS crew, John S. McCain, thought he controlled all of the ship's engines, while he controlled only one side of the destroyer. The sailor increased engine power in this half, which led to a sharp turn of the ship and a collision with another ship.

TechCrunch emphasized that IBNS systems were installed just a year before the incident and almost no one knew the details of their work, which did not allow to respond quickly in a crisis situation.
