In Texas, a labrador named Zero defended his family from bullets at the cost of his own life while shooting near Houston, writes FOX News.

The dog rushed to the arrow, which opened fire at his birthday in the house of Laura Martinez. Martinez and her two children were injured in the legs. The dog was also injured and later died.

“I truly believe that if Zero had not kept jumping on him, he would have shot above our feet,” Martinez said.

The suspected shooter's name is Javian Kanstaneda. He is 16 years old. He was a friend of the family. He is also suspected of being implicated in the robbery of the house of Martinez, which happened earlier.

After the robbery, the Martinez family talked to Kanstaned's parents and shared their suspicions that their son was involved in the robbery. A few days later Kanstaneda came to a birthday party, a quarrel ensued, which turned into a shootout.

“My dog ​​lunged at Javian. He shot at Zero. Zero fell and Javian fired 3 more shots which hit Valerie...Zero then jumped on Javian again and he shot Zero again twice. Before Zero fell, Havian fired 5 more shots. One of the bullets hit me in the leg,” Martinez wrote on the GoFundme portal.

As reported on the GoFundme, Laura Martinez was injured in the leg, her son Taylor was injured in the ankle, and stepdaughter Valerie in the back and hips. Martinez works for Lyft drivers and due to injury can not work.

The family is recovering from gunshot wounds and mourning the death of their beloved dog, whom they now call "Zero the Hero."

Police are looking for Kanstaneda, noting that the teenager is armed and dangerous.
