Forest fires raging in California: 3 people dead, dozens of houses destroyed
The devastating Saddleridge Fire, which broke out on the evening of October 10 in Sylmar, Los Angeles County, is gradually coming under control - compared to 19% containment on October 12, today, October 14, firefighters were able to contain the blaze to 41%.
The fire covered almost 8000 acres and moved from the vicinity of residential areas to the hillsides. After that, in connection with a more favorable wind direction, evacuation orders were canceled in Los Angeles on Saturday, writes CNN.

“The change in weather allows firefighters to take advantage of lower wind speeds and directly attack any remaining hot spots,” the Los Angeles Fire Department said Sunday morning.
A warning of a high risk of fire expired on 18: 00 on Saturday, the Los Angeles National Weather Service said.

When flames spurred by strong winds and low humidity began to spread, around 100 000 people were forced to leave their homes in several blocks of Los Angeles. Fire destroyed at least 31 house.

Raging in Calimesa — 70 miles east of Los Angeles — the Sandalwood Fire is 77% contained and covering 1000 acres so far, according to CAL FIRE. Two people were killed, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said. This fire destroyed 76 houses and buildings and damaged 14 more.

According to CAL FIRE, the Reche fire in the Moreno Valley is already localized at 100%. Rapidly growing flames managed to span 350 acres, after which firefighters extinguished the fire.
All three fires started on Thursday, October 10.

Family members Lois Arvikson confirmed that the 89-year-old woman died in the fire. Don Turner, Arvixon’s son and his wife Kimberly spent the night with 10 on 11 on October in an evacuation center, desperate to hear the news about their mother, who lived alone in Villa Calimesa's mobile home park. When the woman talked with her son on the phone, the flame reached the park.

Neighbors said they saw Arvixon getting in her car to leave, but they don’t know what happened next. Turners saw on television news that Arvixon's house was destroyed by fire, and the car was still standing on the road.
