In American schools, an alarm system was installed in case of shooting: how it works

More than at Illinois 20 schools and more than at 150 schools across the United States, special alarm boxes were installed to respond quickly in cases of gunfire.

According to the Chicago Tribune, alarm systems, called BluePoint, are installed in schools across the country. Most of the signaling boxes in Illinois are located in schools in Chicago and the surrounding area, notes Pix11.

Blue boxes, designed on the principle of “break glass if necessary”, only here instead of glass there is a plastic cover, and it can be simply removed. The alarms were designed specifically to notify police of an emergency at school. The device is similar to a fire alarm station - pull down and lift the clear plastic cover, then press the button.

The company says that after just 10 seconds after the signal is activated, the system will alert the authorities and warn other people in the building through the telephone system and strobe lights.

According to the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, at least 2018 school shooting incidents occurred in the 60 year. In February, 17 people were killed in school by Marjorie Stoneman Douglas in one of the deadliest cases of school shootings in US history.
