The United States is exploring the possibility of new arms shipments to Ukraine in addition to the anti-tank missiles that were sent to it earlier, writes "Voice of America".

This was announced by the head of the European Command of the US Armed Forces, General Curtis Scaparotti.

He said that any deliveries would be preceded by “political discussions”, noting that the weapons in question included naval systems designed to help Ukraine respond to incidents similar to the incident in the Kerch Strait last year.

“Recommendations for Ukraine, especially with regard to lethal weapons, must undergo a corresponding procedure, including political discussions, which will result in the granting of authority to deploy such weapon systems,” he said, speaking to the Senate Armed Forces Committee.

“There are other systems, sniper systems, ammunition and, given the Kerch Strait, it may also make sense to consider the supply of naval systems in the future as we move forward,” he added.

Answering the question of Senator James Inhof, the chairman of the committee, whether this would require the relevant provisions in this year’s draft defense policy bill, Scaparotti said that he "will have recommendations for this."

In November, Russia fired at three Ukrainian ships that tried to pass through the Kerch Strait, connecting the Sea of ​​Azov with the Black.
