Tsarnaev convicted of terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon
The jury handed down a verdict in the case of Johard Tsarnaev about the terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon 2013 of the year. He was found guilty of using weapons of mass destruction against individuals, which resulted in death.
But there is little doubt that Mr. Tsarnaev will be convicted on most of the 30 charges against him.
Seventeen of the 30 charges provide for the death penalty, and if Mr. Tsarnaev is not found guilty on any of the 17 points, the trial will proceed to the second stage, in which the jury will decide whether he should be sentenced to life in prison or lead to the death penalty.
The explosions nearly two years ago turned one of the most prestigious marathons in the world into a battle scene with body parts scattered along Boylston Street. The bombings were revenge for the American initiative of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. During the tragic events, three people died in the marathon, 17 people were left without limbs, more than 240 people were injured.
