Trump fired the head of the FBI, James Komi
US President Donald Trump dismissed the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), James Komi.
Powers Komi were terminated on the basis of the recommendations of the US Attorney General Jeff Sessions, writes New York Times.
“The President has accepted the recommendation of the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General to fire the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer explained.
In its letter to the fired head of the FBI, Trump explained his decision by saying that Comey “cannot effectively lead the bureau” and asked him to immediately vacate his position.
Candidates for the post of new director of the FBI will begin to search immediately.
Komi was appointed head of the FBI in 2013 during the reign of 44 President Barack Obama and enjoyed the support of both parties to Congress.
