Trump refuses Putin to interrogate Americans

US President Donald Trump did not agree with the proposal of the head of Russia Vladimir Putin to give the right to Russian investigators to conduct interrogations of US citizens.

This was stated by the press secretary of the White House, Sarah Sanders, writes RBC.

According to her, Trump refused to accept Putin’s proposal to organize for the American side the interrogation of Russian citizens suspected of involvement in the US presidential election, in exchange for the interrogation of Americans involved in the investigations in Russia by Russian investigators.

At the same time, Sanders expressed the hope that Russia would allow 12 to its citizens, suspected of interfering in the American elections, to come to the US and prove their innocence. Sanders had in mind employees of the Russian special services who, shortly before the Helsinki summit, were charged with hacking into the computer servers of the US Democratic Party during the presidential election 2016 of the year.

A statement by the White House press secretary appeared shortly before the Senate meeting, at which Republicans and Democrats intended to vote in favor of a document that would prevent Trump from agreeing to Putin’s proposal.

Recall that during the joint press conference with Trump in Helsinki, the Russian president said that interrogations should be mutual. Putin himself cited as an example the case of Hermitage Capital and the head of this company, William Browder, whom they would like to question in Moscow. Later, Alexander Kurennoy, a spokesman for the Prosecutor General’s Office, said that the Russians would like to question the National Security Agency employee Todd Hyman, CIA agent Jim Route, former deputy head of the intelligence department of the State Department Robert Otto, former ambassador to Moscow Michael McFaul and assistant US ex-Secretary of State John Kerry John Wiener.

Recall Trump and Putin met in Helsinki on July 16, during which a proposal was voiced to conduct mutual interrogations of Americans by Russians, and Russians by Americans.
