As Trump told in an interview with CBS News on Wednesday, he told Putin that Russia should not interfere in future US elections: “I made him understand that we cannot allow this and we will not allow it, and everything will be that way.”

In this case, as recalled Voice of America correspondent Ken Bredemayer, the president refused to say whether he believes that Putin is lying, denying Russian interference in the elections: “I don’t want to go into arguments about whether he is lying or not.”

The president also criticized the way the US media covered the summit. “The media spreading fake news really wants a major confrontation with Russia, even if this confrontation leads to war,” he wrote on Twitter. - They are annoyed by the fact that I may have a good relationship with Putin. He also quoted his favorite channel, Fox News, which recalled that the president had repeatedly acknowledged Russian interference in the election. “Fake news doesn't want to talk about it in this way. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin on Thursday accused American political forces of trying to belittle the results of the meeting.

For the first time publicly commenting on the summit with Trump, Putin said at a meeting with Russian diplomats:

"We see that there are forces in the United States that are easily prepared to sacrifice Russian-American relations, to sacrifice their ambitions in the course of the internal political struggle in America."

At the same time, the Russian leader warned that the “forces” operating in the US may try to prevent the improvement of relations by putting “their group, narrow party interests” higher than the national ones and harming the American economy in the name of political victories.
