Zoo painted dogs black and white and passed them off as pandas
Zoo visitors in China were outraged. It was discovered that the “pandas” in the enclosure are actually dogs painted black and white, reports NYPost.

Zoo staff reportedly trimmed their fur and painted their faces black to make them look like the iconic Chinese bamboo-eating bear.

They then placed the so-called pandas in the enclosure every day from 8:00 to 17:00. The animals attracted crowds of people.
When a zoo employee was asked why they had dogs cosplay as pandas, the representative explained, "The zoo doesn't have bamboo bears, so we wanted to do it."

Many visitors have accused the menagerie of cruelty to animals, but its representatives insist that their actions do not harm their charges.
“People also dye their hair,” explained a zoo representative. “Natural dye can be used on dogs if they have long hair.”
“I think they are beautiful,” one user wrote about the strange animals at the zoo.
“I think they’re cute,” agreed the second.
A third joked: "Well that's an extreme way to take care of your dogs while you're at work."

Painting dogs the color of pandas is not a new idea: it was a trend in China a few years ago.
"Ten years ago, a Chinese person's natural instinct was to eat a dog," said Xin Chen, owner of a pet store in Chengdu, Sichuan. “Now we are like Westerners and want to have someone as a companion.” The favorites were cute breeds like French bulldogs and Labradors, but now it's panda dogs."
