TikTok sues the US government for allegedly limiting freedom of speech

“There is no doubt that this legislation will shut down TikTok by January 19, 2025 and silence the 170 million Americans who use the platform to communicate,” the lawsuit states.
According to the new law, if the company does not comply with the conditions, Apple and Google will not be able to offer the TikTok app to users. Additionally, Internet hosting services will be prohibited from supporting the application.
The company's lawsuit says TikTok spent $2 billion on measures to protect user data. The company has agreed to a "shutdown option" that would give the US the right to suspend the app if it violates the terms of the 90-page draft National Security Agreement, it said. Voice of America.
The company said the Chinese government "strongly opposes" the forced sale of TikTok and will not allow the platform's algorithm, which is the most valuable part of the app, to be exported.
