The General Assembly adopted a resolution calling on the United States not to interfere with the issuance of visas to diplomats from other countries arriving at UN events, writes RBC.
In particular, the General Assembly expects that entry visas will be issued in a timely manner to all representatives of UN member states, so that delegates can begin to fulfill their duties on time.
The sponsors of the resolution were Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Costa Rica and Côte d'Ivoire. The decision on the document was adopted by consensus without a voting procedure.

In September, a number of members of the Russian delegation were unable to attend the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, which was held in the United States, due to the issue of American visas. The Kremlin called for a “tough response” from Moscow and the UN. The members of the Iranian delegation also faced the same problem. At the end of October, Russia raised the issue of transferring the First General Disarmament Committee from the United States, but the committee did not support the initiative.
