The US Senate approved a bill on compulsory military registration of women
If this bill passes approval, then for the first time in the entire history of the United States, women will be called up for military service.
The National Defense Authorization Act bill received 85 votes for and 13 against.
Republicans are divided on whether American women should be required to serve in the military when they turn 18. Senator Ted Cruz said these are sweeping changes being sought to be forced upon the American people, while Senator John McCain said that "a large number of senators from both parties on the Armed Services Committee agreed that there was no further justification for restricting military service to men only.”
Today, only in a few countries there is a military appeal for women. These are China, Israel, North Korea, Libya, Malaysia, Peru, Taiwan, and also Norway.
And in the US Army at the moment only contract soldiers serve, but all men between the ages of 18 and 25 years are required to register with the military as reservists. The amendments will commit to this and women, who, in the case of the announcement of total mobilization, as well as men, will be sent to the linear parts.
