Russian Butina recorded a video message from an American prison

Russian woman Maria Butina, serving a sentence in the United States on charges of working as a foreign agent, recorded a video message. The post was posted on Instagram by the head of the Anti-Globalization Movement of Russia, Alexander Ionov, writes RBC.

Butina said she was on transit at Oklahoma Airport.

"It seems that we are back in modern times, I have the Internet again and I can write down the message." Butina thanked everyone who supported her after her arrest. “I also wanted to ask you for financial support. As you know, my lawyers filed an appeal and we intend to fight against the injustice that is happening to me and to all Russian citizens, because I am just a reflection of the current reality, ”she said.

• Recall maria butina was detained in the US in July last year. The court found her guilty of conspiring to work as a foreign agent, as well as working as a foreign agent without proper registration from 2015.
• In December, Butina made a deal with the investigation and partially admitted guilt. Court sentenced her to 18 months in prison. Given the time spent under arrest, she still has nine months imprisonment. She should be released 5 November 2019 of the year, after which she is deported from the United States.
• In Russia, Maria Butina was the leader of the movement “The Right to Arms”, which advocated the extension of the rights to possession of short-barreled rifles. The movement collaborated with the US National Shooting Association (NRA). In the year 2015, Butina entered the American University in Washington for a master's program in international relations. According to the American investigation, using connections in the NRA, she tried to establish contacts with Donald Trump's entourage.
