Russian model accused American billionaire of rape

Model from Russia Guzel Ganieva has sued the former CEO of the investment company Apollo Global Management and billionaire Leon Black. She accuses him of rape. Writes about it RBC.

The model claims that back in 2008, when she first moved to the United States, Blair met her at one of the events. The businessman invited her to dinner and promised to tell how he could help her in the future.

Soon after, the financier, according to the girl, took her to a small apartment, where there was nothing but a mattress, and forced her into "sadistic sexual acts." After that, for several years, Ganieva "went through a cycle of intimidation, abuse and humiliation on the part of Black."

The billionaire told Ganieva that he would help her child get through school and would personally fund the film for her. In addition, Black promised Ganieva to buy the mansion to make an art museum out of it, as well as help her enter Harvard Business School, writes NY Daily News.

Ganiyeva fled the city with her son to avoid Black's presence following an alleged attack in July 2014. She claims that Black broke into her apartment, where she lay in bed recovering from her illness, and raped her.

“As usual, rich, powerful people and an army of elite lawyers continue to avoid responsibility for their heinous actions, distorting the legal system to punish their victims for speaking out,” said Ganieva’s lawyer, Zhanna Christensen.

When the model decided to tell about the rape, Black said that her words were a lie and stated that she had been extorting money from him for several years. According to him, he several times transferred "significant" amounts to her for fear of disclosing information about their relationship, "in an attempt to save the family from public humiliation."

In the lawsuit, Ganieva stressed that Black did not try to hide their relationship from the public. The two of them dined countless times in restaurants, Black took her to Broadway shows, museum exhibitions and films, including the premiere of The King's Speech, even sat next to her rooting for the New York Knicks.

A spokesman for Black said that Ganieva's allegations of harassment and inappropriate behavior were completely untrue.

“Leon Black has been in a relationship with Ganieva by mutual agreement for six years,” the spokesman said. According to him, after the break of these relations, Ganieva extorted money from Black for many years.

Due to investigations into ties with Jeffrey Epstein, Black was forced to leave Apollo Global Management. Epstein was accused of organizing prostitution, including involving minors. In January, the law firm Dechert released a report stating that Black had transferred $ 2017 million to Epstein in the five years leading up to 158.

Leon Black was one of the founders of Apollo Global Management in 1990. The company is an alternative investment management company headquartered in New York.
