A marijuana grower bought a city in California

Marijuana Manufacturer, Company American green, took an unusual step to attract new customers after the legalization of marijuana in California: she buys a whole city.

The company acquired the tiny city of Nipton, California, for $ 5 million and plans to invest up to $ 2,5 million over the next 18 months to create a tourist destination. The purchase includes 120 acres of land with a shop, hotel, school and mineral baths.

American greenbased in Tampa, Arizona, will use existing structures and build new, alternative-based energy sources to renew the city, said project leader Stephen Sherin.

This step shows how far marijuana is out of the shadow, despite the uncertainty about federal policy. Due to the fact that marijuana is now legalized for recreational and medical use in California, Nevada and six other states, one in five adults from the United States can consume a previously forbidden plant as they please. This created an opportunity for companies to try to make cannabis a more common product.

Nipton is located in the San Bernardino District of California near the Mojave National Preserve. The city is located about three hours by car from Los Angeles and just one hour from Las Vegas.

The former mining town has already attracted visitors due to its advantageous location on the road and the railway between major cities, Sherin said.

Ambiguous reaction

Small cities reacted differently to marijuana. That is why American green decided to buy a city and demonstrate the benefits that cannabis can provide.

American green plans to build a new facility for the production of water filled with CBD, a component of cannabis, which is usually associated with a decrease in pain and inflammation. New Nipton will also produce edible marijuana products, have retail stores and programs for artists.

The project provides a transition to making marijuana more attractive to a wide audience.

“The Gold Rush built this town,” Sherin said. “The green rush could cause it to evolve in a way that people thought years ago.”
