“Picked up and blind”: Putin first commented on the “Panamanian scandal”

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the publication of offshore companies, including those registered for his entourage, an attempt to shake the situation from the inside.

According to Putin, the authors of the publications set themselves the task of making Russia more docile.

According to the Russian leader, “when officials of the State Department or the US administration say some rude things, this means that they identify themselves as interested parties,” which is bad for the United States from the point of view of achieving the final result. “And it’s good for us, because we understand who the customer is,” the president concluded.

Putin noted that his photo was in the foreground, against the background of “it is not clear what kind of people.” “And this is moving forward. Here, there is some friend of the Russian President, he did something there, probably it has a corruption component. Which one? “Yes, there is none there,” said the head of state. - And the fact that, say, officials and official bodies of the same United States are behind this, WikiLeaks has now shown us. According to the president, “the unity and cohesion of the Russian nation, the multinational Russian people” worries Russia’s opponents, and therefore they are making attempts to destabilize the situation.

He also once again noted that in the documents of the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca, on which the publications are based, his name is not directly mentioned, пишет Air Force

The head of state also said that he is proud that he has such friends as musician Sergey Roldugin.

“But what is his business? He is a minority shareholder in one of our companies and earns some money there, but it is, of course, not billions of dollars. Nonsense, there is nothing like it,” he continued.

“I am proud of people like Sergei Pavlovich, among my friends and in general,” the president emphasized.

He explained that almost all the money that Roldugin earned “he spent on purchasing musical instruments abroad and brought them to Russia.” Putin pointed out the high cost of these musical instruments, пишет Interfax.

The results of the study of the documents of Mossack Fonseca, which the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists was engaged in, were published in several leading world media outlets in the evening of April 3.

The documents identify companies that are said to be linked to Rossiya Bank and close associates of the Russian president, including Putin's longtime friend, cellist Sergei Roldugin.

In particular, the musician is listed as the official owner of two offshore companies that conducted dubious deals with other people and structures close to Putin.

Putin is not the only state leader mentioned in the Panama Papers. Journalists also drew attention to offshore companies associated with the entourage or relatives of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and others.
