British ex-prime minister guard forgot a loaded pistol and documents in airplane toilet
A police bodyguard assigned to former British Prime Minister David Cameron has been suspended from duty for a mistake that many would consider unforgivable. Writes about it with the BBC.
According to media reports, he left a loaded pistol, as well as, according to some reports, his own passport and David Cameron's passport in the toilet of a British airline British Airways, flying from New York to London.
Glock 17 pistol and documents were discovered by one of the passengers who was shocked by this find and handed it to the commander of the airliner.
Royal people and high-ranking politicians are entitled to police protection, and bodyguards have the right to bring personal weapons on board the aircraft. However, to demonstrate it, and even more so to forget it in the restroom, to put it mildly, is not recommended.
“The plane commander confirmed the discovery of the pistol and said that the weapon had been returned to the owner, but this only frightened people even more,” said one of the passengers.

After a short hitch, the pilot again turned to the passengers and said that the weapon was removed from the plane, after which the plane flew to London.
The incident occurred on January 27. “The officer in question has since been suspended from his duties,” Scotland Yard said. “We take this matter extremely seriously and have launched an internal investigation.”
"The takeoff went well"
“We follow Civil Aviation Authority rules that allow British police officers to carry weapons on board aircraft in special circumstances,” a British Airways spokeswoman said. “Our crew quickly dealt with the situation before takeoff, and the flight went smoothly.”
David Cameron led the British government for six years and resigned in July 2016 after a referendum in which people in the country spoke in favor of Britain leaving the EU.
