New credit card scam: they give you flowers and wine and empty the bill
Police warned of a new kind of credit card fraud. Writes USA Today, scammers recorded in Placer County in California. One of the residents of the district called the courier and said that he was ordered to deliver a parcel that requires a signature.
An hour later, the crook courier approached the victim with a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine. He asked the victim to pay $ 3,50, ostensibly because he transfers the alcohol and his company must make sure that he handed the package to a person older than 21 of the year. Payment fraudster asked to make a credit card.
The fraudster took the card, passed it through the mobile credit card reader and asked to enter the PIN code. Then the "courier" handed the receipt and left. $ 4000 was withdrawn from the payee’s account.
The police are asking citizens to be extremely attentive and not to accept packages that you do not expect. Also, before receiving the parcel, ask to verify the sender information and never give out confidential information on a credit card.
