How to avoid becoming a victim of fraudsters when making insurance
Are you going to issue or renew insurance in the near future? You should be careful when registering, writes The Penny Hoarder.
Registration for the program Obamacare, Medicare and private insurance began on November 1 and will last until December December 15. You should remember the risks associated with the design of a particular insurance protection.
In the case of insurance you are required to provide personal and confidential information that fraudsters are trying to get in any way.
How can you find fraudsters and not become their victim when registering insurance?
14 November, the Federal Trade Commission published a report on hacker attacks on registration sites. The report describes in detail the mechanisms that fraudsters use to obtain data during registration. Medicare, Obamacare and private insurance plans.
It is reported that the elderly suffer most from scam actions. Scammers send out messages that new cards will be issued in 2018 Medicare. They hope that older people will rush to provide confidential information to update their cards.
AARP states that a new card Medicare is issued free of charge and that it is not necessary to provide personal information to receive it.
The FTC says that a fraudster can be calculated by the following points:
- Anyone who claims to be the official agent Medicare - scammer. U Medicare no sales representatives.
- Anyone who claims you need to subscribe to the plan. Medicare D or your cover will be canceled - a crook. Registration Medicare D optional and performed voluntarily.
- Clearance at customs Obamacare possible only on the site HealthCare.gov. This is the official site where you can choose a plan and get medical insurance. Anyone who offers you to arrange insurance on another site is a fraudster.
- Medical discount plans - This is not health insurance. Be sure to check with your state insurance commissioner's office if you are unsure about the legality.
If you suspect that you have seen or become a victim of fraudsters, then report to Medicare.gov. or in the FTC.
