In Florida, a shooting occurred during a funeral: there are dead

For Florida, shooting occurred immediately after the funeral in Riviera Beach. As a result of the shooting, 2 people were killed, another 1 was injured. Writes about it NBC News.

The shooting near the city church was reported at around 14:30.

A 15-year-old boy and man were pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

One of the dead was identified as Royce Freeman, 47. The names of other victims are not disclosed by the police.

Authorities initially stated that there were four victims, but it later turned out that another wounded man was not connected with the incident at the funeral.

“This shooting was not a random act of violence,” police said in a statement. “Although the motive for the shooting is still under investigation, it is believed that it was the result of a dispute between relatives of the deceased whose funeral was being held.”

The church’s senior pastor, Tivuante D. Lupo, said the attack was near the church and was attended by people attending the funeral.

“There was a family fight and in the middle of that fight there was a shooting and unfortunately people lost their lives,” he said.

He said the church authorities “knew very well about the possible violence” and were assigned armed security, but the violence erupted “as soon as the security service was gone.”

He also said the congregation mourns the loss of "two young black men due to a senseless shooting."

According to recent reports, the police have not yet arrested anyone.
