The guy walked 32 km to work. What happened next moved him to tears.

An Alabama company owner gave his employee a new car after he walked 32 miles at night to get to work in time for his first day at the company.

After his own car broke down, Walter Carr walked through the suburbs of Birmingham to his new job at Bellhops transport company, writes with the BBC.

On the way, he met a policeman who, marveling at the man’s perseverance, invited him to breakfast.

Carr's story quickly spread through social networks, making him a star on the Internet.

Jenny Lamy, a client of the firm in which Carr works, wrote in Facebookthat she and her husband woke up on July 13 in the morning to prepare things for transportation, as company representatives had to arrive at 8: 00.

In 06: 30, a bell rang at Lamy’s door, Carr and a police officer stood behind her, telling that a man had traveled dozens of kilometers to get to work, in particular, to Lamy’s house to organize the transport of their belongings.

According to the woman, to get from Homewood to Pelham, a man needed to go all night, since the distance between cities is more than 30 km.

“The policeman said they picked him up on the road early in the morning, took him out to breakfast, and once they checked his history, brought Walter to our house,” Jenny Lamy wrote on social media.

She invited him to rest before the arrival of the car for transportation, but he refused and immediately began work.

He told the woman that he spent his childhood in New Orleans (Louisiana), later his family moved to Houston (Texas) because their home in Louisiana was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

“I just can’t tell you how much Walter and his journey touched me. I can't even imagine how many times during that lonely walk in the middle of the night he wanted to turn back; how many times had he wondered if this was the best idea... But he walked until he came here. I am absolutely delighted with this young man!” the woman admitted.

Upon learning of this story, Luke Marklin, executive director of Bellhops, came from Tennessee to Alabama over the weekend to meet his new employee.

Over a cup of coffee, Marlin handed Karr the keys to the Ford Escape 2014 of the year. In response, he received warm hugs from a grateful employee.

Carr is now studying healthcare in college, from which he is to graduate in December, he also intends to go to the marines.

According to him, it was difficult for him to find a job, so he tried his best to not lose it.
